Race Coaching Sessions 2022

For 2022, WWSC have arranged 3 coaching sessions to give adult and youth members access to RYA qualified race coaches. If you are looking to join the club or just want to join us for training on the day you are more than welcome.
You can sign up to as many sessions as you need and if you need a club boat we can arrange that as well.
Andy Kerr, our RYA coach, will be coordinating and we will have some experienced sailors to give advice and help out.

Sunday 3rd April –  Advanced Racing Techniques
Sunday 12th June – Introduction and improving racing techniques
Saturday 24th September – Performance sailing for double handed dinghy’s (including Spinnakers)

Ability levels

You need to be able to sail upwind, tack and gybe in the class of boat you are sailing to get the most out of the day, we will be spitting into groups at times, and we hope to have mini handicapped races with the whole group for fun.

RS200 Fleet

Weir Wood has an active and growing fleet of RS200s with an age range of 15 to ‘retirement’ age. Our Sunday morning racing is competitive whilst maintaining the fun and suits all abilities. In addition to the regular 2 races on a Sunday, members have the opportunity of Wednesday evening racing in the summer months. We have our Open Meeting planned for Saturday 02 June which will form part of the SEAS series and promises to be a great event. Other formats include ‘Fast & Furious’ racing every 6 weeks on a Sunday, plus other new race formats to be announced as we go through the season. Please come and join our growing fleet and sail on this great stretch of water, with full club house facilities, in a friendly environment.
