This is the RYA powerboat scheme.  We offer a combined level 1 & 2 course and the Safety Boat course at Weir Wood.  Only coastal centres offer the Intermediate and Advanced courses.  If you have any questions, please contact us below:

Powerboat Basic Skills (Level 1 & Level 2)

Pre-course experience None
Assumed knowledge None.  Minimum age 14
Course content All you need to know for self-sufficient powerboating at a basic level. Course includes launching, mooring, anchoring and recovery plus all the boat driving skills required for basic competence in a powerboat
Ability after course Self-sufficient powerboat in the right conditions: aware of own limitations and those of craft
Duration 2 days

Safety Boat Course

Pre-course experience Competent to Powerboat Level 2
Assumed knowledge Basic knowledge of sailing boats.  Minimum age 16
Course content Boat handling, rescue techniques for sailing dinghies, windsurfers and canoes, and tows. Rescuing people from the water
Ability after course Able to provide safety cover to a range of craft, particularly sailing or windsurfing
